The Egyptian Tax Authority issued a letter addressed to the Customs Authority to determine the value of the value-added tax to be collected on gold imports that are accompanied by expatriates, whether Egyptians or other nationalities visiting the Arab Republic of Egypt, regarding which the Prime Minister’s Decision No. 1801 of 2023 was issued to exempt them from customs duties and collect the value tax Added only on it without other fees, and the Egyptian Tax Authority letter specified the value of workmanship only as the tax base due on those imports, and determined the value of the fees due on gold imports based on the tax accounting protocol signed with the General Division of Gold and Jewelry in the General Federation of Chambers of Commerce The value of the tax imposed on these imports will be 14% of the workmanship value, which is determined based on the aforementioned accounting protocol as shown in the letter.
